What is a Google Slides Add-on?

Google Add-on are little software extensions that you can download directly from the Google Add-ons Marketplace to increase the functionality of your Google Docs, Slides or Sheets!. You can extend then Google Slides with add-ons that help users construct new presentations, establish connectivity to third-party systems, and integrate your Slides data with other Google Workspace applications (like Google Sheets).

Focus for this review:

For this post, we will focus on add-ons that will make each and everyone of us more productive and effective when building our own Google Slides presentation decks. Let’s then start with our top pick, a new but very impressive add-on that has been growing in popularity quickly this year and is delivering the best experience by far.

1. SlidesPro

As it’s name suggest, SlidesPro aims to provide a set of professional (Pro) and very useful shortcuts and functionalities directly from the sidebar. We have tested it and been using it as our main day-to-day add-on, and the overall feedback from the team has been exceptional. Not only it does work well and saves you a tonne of time when aligning, changing colours or distributing elements, but through its wizards, it helps you insert images from Unsplash, icons from Material Design or GIFs from Giphy. So, you have all you need right on the screen. And btw, it actually looks great on your sidebar — which is quite rare with Google Slides add-ons. So, we would suggest you give it a try!

5. Paletti

Paletti is an add-on that helps you to quickly colour your slides with a simple click. By default, you will have access to about 200 pre-existing colour palettes for you to get inspired but you can also create, edit and save your own — which makes Paletti very helpful indeed. If you want to control the background colour and palette right from the sidebar, Paletti is your add-on.
